What is RIDE Indoor Cycling?
RIDE indoor cycling is a unique form of group exercise that focuses on endurance, strength, high/low intensity intervals and recovery that involves using a stationary bike with a weighted flywheel. A typical class involves music and an instructor leading participants through a routine that’s designed to simulate various outdoor landscapes such as hills, flatland and turns. A major advantage of indoor cycling is that each person controls his/her intensity level while continuing with the group’s simulated ride.
What is TRX?
RIDE TRX is suspension-type training that uses bodyweight and resistance aimed at developing strength, balance and flexibility. The six stations are infinitely scalable and are a fun and effective total-body workout for anyone, no matter their fitness level, weight or height.
Each class is 45 minutes of "all core all the time." !
What are the benefits of indoor cycling?
Indoor cycling is an awesome cardio workout that burns calories (450 to 550 per class), increases stamina and metabolism, and helps a person develop a toned and strong body without putting too much stress on joints. An indoor cycling workout can be adapted to any fitness level, and the capacity to adjust your bike’s resistance level guarantees a unique level of individual control.
Is there such a thing as Good Riding Etiquette?
Yes, practicing good riding etiquette means:
No texting or phone use during class (if you’re expecting an emergency call, kindly leave your phone with RIDE team at front desk).
Turn off cell phone until ride is over.
No chatting with other riders during class.
If you don’t want to follow the instructor’s ride-plan, it’s best to take a bike in the back.
Don’t arrive late.
What time should I arrive?
First time riders are expected to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early so RIDE team can guide you through a brief orientation and help you make bike adjustments for your height and comfort. Experienced riders are encouraged to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class in order to adjust bike to their personal settings. All classes start promptly on time.
Will I have to adjust my bike every time I ride?
Yes, proper bike alignment is essential for protecting your knees, shoulders and back.
What should I wear?
It’s important to wear a tee-shirt or tank with shorts or spandex leggings. Although cycling shorts are not necessary, many people wear them because they’re comfortable and they help ease saddle soreness (especially during the first few rides). Throughout the winter months, the studio can be chilly so it’s a good idea to wear layers that can be taken off as your body heats up.
Do I need cycling shoes?
Stiff-sole athletic sneakers are fine and will easily fit into our bikes’ pedal cages; however, cycling shoes with SPD clips are recommended. RIDE will have a few cycling shoes with clips on hand for riders who want to try them (on a first come first serve basis).
Should I bring water?
YES, we highly recommend bringing lots of water because necessary hydration is vital for an enjoyable, successful and energizing ride. It’s a good idea to begin drinking water 2 hours before your ride and to continue drinking during and after your ride. In case you forget your water, RIDE will always have cold bottled water available.
Should I eat before class?
It’s a good idea to have a light snack 30 minutes before your ride. This helps maintain blood sugar levels and energy levels for the length of your ride.
Do I have to register online or can I just walk in?
Online registration is highly recommended because it guarantees you a bike.
Will I have to sign a waiver?
Yes, all riders are required to sign a waiver prior to their first ride. Riders between the ages of 13 to 17 years old must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. The form is available to print here. If you are unable to print out a waiver form in advance, RIDE will always have forms here at the studio.
Do you have showers?
RIDE is a boutique studio so we do not have showers; however we provide complimentary towels and toiletries.
Do you have lockers?
RIDE does not have lockers but we do have awesome hooks and a large bench in the same room with bikes . . . so no worries, your stuff is right behind you and safe.
Will I get bored with the same class at the same time each week?
No, never because no two rides are ever the same! Our fun and energetic instructors are encouraged to be creative with their music, AND they care about your goals. Whether you’re looking for a complete body workout or training for a race or looking for an emotional escape, RIDE is the place for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
Client cancellation: To receive credit for a cancelled ride, you must cancel 24 hours prior to the start of class.
RIDE cancellation: RIDE reserves the right to cancel class if there are less than three bikes reserved. Please check schedule regularly.
What happens if there's bad weather?
RIDE follows the Region-12 School delay/cancellation schedule. If there's a school delay, morning classes are cancelled. If there's a school cancellation, all classes are cancelled.
What if I have to leave early?
We understand once in while that a rider might have to slip out early so we recommend taking a bike near the door and slipping out quietly.
Is the RIDE studio available for private parties or local events?
Yes, absolutely. You can create your own RIDE party/event.
Get ten of your friends or co-workers or students or family members, pick a date, book the barn and we will provide the bikes and instructor. Then afterwards, head upstairs to the loft area where you can enjoy light food, beverages and music. If the weather is warm, the barn doors upstairs and downstairs will be open.
We’re happy to help customize your event with decorations, food sources and table/chair setups.
